A life of serving and honoring the Lord

The Church in Weymouth

My wife and I had the honor of meeting Brother Jeng four years ago, after first getting to know Corina and Theodore in the Boston Massachusetts area. Theodore would tell us so many stories about his grandfather and his life of serving the Lord, and I was eager for an opportunity to meet Brother Jeng.

The opportunity came in the fall of 2018. I really treasure those hours I had with Brother Jeng! Those several hours we spent together in fellowship were sweet and rewarding, with Godly advice around Christ and the church. I really feel honored meeting him, both, for meeting the brother himself, as well as for coming in contact with the legacy he represented.

Most of you knew him much better than I did, and you can give much better accounts for this man of God, his sainthood, as well as his high humanity. Our brother is with the Lord now (absent from the body - present with the Lord) but I would like to use this opportunity to speak a little bit to the younger generations present here.

Many of you have the honor of having Brother Jeng as your spiritual father, and some of you have the double honor of having him both, as a spiritual father, as well as a physical father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative, etc.

This is what I want to say: There is this trend in the world that says “newer is better”, that the younger ones know better than the old, that we are to be self-standing, having no need for any previous generation.

I remember a negative event in the Bible, in 2nd Chronicles 10:8 : King Rehoboam “rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him…” We know the evils that happened after that. This is what is prevalent today.

I would say to you: Resist the satanic influences of the world for breaking from your Godly roots and hold fast on the legacy that God provided for you in His sovereignty. Especially regarding our spiritual roots, we need to remember that “we are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.” We are built upon what the saints of God before us were built upon, saints like Brother Jeng.

Let’s go on with the Lord, according to our Godly calling, the highest and holiest calling, holding fast and honoring our Godly roots and legacy. Amen!
