Isaac Jeng

The following testimony of my uncle is on behalf of my siblings and myself.

To me, brother Jeng is both an honorable and esteemed brother in the Lord. Brother Jeng is my uncle. He is my father’s second older brother. Growing up, I would always call him 伯伯 (in Chinese this means a paternal uncle who is older than my father). He is quite a few years senior to my father.

As believers in Christ, and with a little seeking heart and a little experience of the Lord by His mercy, we would know whenever we spend time before the Lord the futility of speaking and the benefit of listening. Without the Lord’s speaking, believers will not have any revelation, light, or knowledge. As believers in Christ, our lives hinge totally upon the Lord’s speaking. As believers, we have the capacity created by God to both understand and apprehend God’s speaking. However, there is a need for someone to speak to us. This may occur when God speaks to us directly as we spend time either in His word or in His presence. This may also take place through someone. Very often the Lord speaks to us by the environments He ordains for us or through others He places around us.

If you know my uncle, he is one who speaks weighty word in a soft voice in a solemn way. He will say things to me out of the depth of his heart as if he may not have another opportunity to speak to me on that subject again. It is just like Paul in Ephesians 6:4 that my uncle would nature the younger generation in the discipline and admonition of the Lord. It is also like Paul in Colossians 1:28 that my uncle felt so responsible to admonish and teach the younger generation in all wisdom in order to present every one of us full-grown in Christ. My uncle was filled with words of admonition and treated me not just as his nephew, but also as a beloved brother in the Lord. He did it in such a way, hoping that the Lord’s word would dwell in me richly. How often do you have someone in your life that would come to you and remind you of your incomparable relationship with the Lord? My uncle would utter such word as: ‘It is most worthwhile to love the Lord supremely’. I will always miss him.
